DTS Technology

DTS Spinal Decompression Therapy Overview

DTS (Decompression Traction System) therapy is a non-invasive, computer-controlled traction method that gently stretches the spine to reduce disc pressure, promote healing, and relieve pain from conditions like herniated discs, sciatica, and degenerative disc disease.

How It Works

DTS uses a specialized treatment table with a harness to apply controlled, varying traction forces to the spine. The system cycles through distraction and relaxation phases, creating negative pressure inside the discs — a "vacuum effect." This can:

  • Pull herniated material back toward the disc center
  • Reduce nerve compression
  • Rehydrate discs and improve nutrient and oxygen exchange
  • Restore disc height and improve mobility

The therapy is painless for most patients, often described as a mild stretch, and many report relaxation during sessions.

Conditions Treated

Evidence and clinical use show DTS is effective for:

  • Herniated or bulging discs
  • Sciatica
  • Degenerative disc disease
  • Facet syndrome
  • Spinal stenosis
  • Post-surgical disc issues

Benefits

Patients commonly experience:

  • Non-surgical and non-invasive treatment
  • Pain relief in many patients after a few sessions
  • Improved mobility and reduced inflammation
  • Accelerated healing via disc rehydration
  • Low risk when performed by trained professionals

Treatment Course

Typical protocols for DTS spinal decompression:

2–4 sessions per week

Frequency

4–8 weeks (15–20 sessions)

Duration

Approximately 20–30 minutes

Session length

Safety & Considerations

DTS is FDA-cleared and considered safe when administered by qualified providers. Most patients experience no pain during treatment; mild stretch or post-session soreness is possible. It is often combined with chiropractic adjustments and lifestyle changes for best results.
